I'm Sorry. Have Some Cake?

Wow. So.

I've been gone a while, I know. I know. See the thing is, I got married. And decided to go to grad school. dog died? The meeting ran long? I have a hard time walking in these shoes? And I lost my phone? All that stuff happened. For two months straight. Rough, right? Everything's fine now though, thanks for asking.

Anyway, as you may or may not have deduced, that's my wedding cake at the top of the post. It doesn't symbolize anything other than the fact that monsters are awesome. We bowed to tradition in many other respects, but the cake was our one little pushback against the Wedding Industrial Complex. Although, now that I think of it, all that colored fondant? It wasn't cheap. In fact it cost...oh, hell. I'm waving the white flag (or dress?). You win, Wedding Industrial Complex.

Was it all worth it? Let's get a look at those faces one more time:

Did you make your own wedding cake? If so, I am seriously impressed!

Best wedding cake ever!

I'm flattered by the suggestion, Amber, but I didn't even apply my own mascara. The cake was made by the talented folks at Confection in Kalamazoo, MI. If you find yourself in Southwest Michigan and you're looking for sweets, I highly recommend them:
